Below are some interesting facts about coins from various parts of the globe:
• In 1252, the first gold coins were minted in Florence, Italy. It was first called the fiorino, then as the florence, and eventually, the florin.
• In 1989, The Bank of Canada issued the last $1 bill. The dollar bill’s departure was preceded in 1987 by the arrival of the dollar coin, affectionately known in the world as the loonie.
• Numismatics refers to the scientific study of coins. This term is derived from the Greek word nomisma, meaning a coin or a currency in English.
• The first official international convention for coin collectors was held from August 15 to 18, 1962, in Detroit, Michigan. It was sponsored by the American Numismatic Association and the Canadian Numismatic Association. Around 40,000 coin enthusiast attended this convention.
• Ever wondered about the musty, "metallic" odour you smell after handling coins? A study found out that the smell of iron is a type of human body odour, created by the breakdown of oils in the skin after touching objects that contain metallic or iron elements. When you touch objects made of iron, perspiration from your skin causes the iron atoms to gain two electrons. The doubly negative iron atoms react with oil in the skin, causing them to decompose and form 1-octen-2-one – the metallic-smelling substance.

Fascinating Facts About Credit Cards You Didn’t Know
Frank McNamara, the creator of the first credit card thought
that credit cards were just a fad. Hence, he sold his share in Diners Club. But
by the mid-1960s, Diners Club had 1.3 million cardholders and was freely
accepted across the globe.
Other Credit Card Facts
The first credit card can only be used in New York dining
establishments. The creation of credit card was conceptualized when McNamara
had changed suits before going to a restaurant and left his wallet in his other
suit. This scenario made him think about how useful it is to have a card people
can use instead of cash. Hence, the Diners Club card was born. However, it
could only be used at 28 restaurants and 2 hotels in New York.
A credit card can be validated by adding its numbers. The
Luhn algorithm, which is a simple checksum, can be used to check the validity
of a credit card. Starting from the right, you must double each other digit on
your credit card. Add the doubled digits to the ones you did not double. Take
note that when you have a double digit number like 15, use the sum of its
digits. For example, 15 is 1+5=6. It is a valid number when the total sum is
divisible by 10.
You can identify the type of industry that issued the card by
the first 2 digits on your credit card identification number. For CC number
starting with a 1 or 2, it was issued by an airline. Number 3 is for companies
in the entertainment and travel industry. Numbers 4 and 5 are for banking
institutions. Number 6 is for banking and merchandising. Number 7 is for gas
cards. Number 8 is for telecommunication companies while Number 9 is for
national assignments.

Some Must-Know Facts About Banking In Early Times
Banks are common establishments that you can see in nearly every corner or street in almost all parts of the world. You will be hard-pressed to find a person who has not entered or made a transaction at a bank today.
Banks and banking operations and solutions have gone a long way from its early beginnings. Concepts, processes, and solutions offered by banks have evolved, making them more advantageous and interesting for their clients.
Below are some facts worth knowing about banking in earlier times:
• Banking is said to have existed even before the thirteenth century, although there is no adequate documentation to support this. Many of the early “banks” dealt mainly in coin and bullion and much of their business were focused on money-changing and the supply of lawful foreign and domestic coin of the correct weight and fineness.
• During the ancient times, merchant-bankers also started dealing in goods and bills of exchange. This made way for the remittance of money and the payment of accounts at a distance, without shipping any actual coin.
• Another early banking activity was the acceptance of deposits. This usually pertained to either the deposit of money or valuables merely for safekeeping or for transferring to another party or to the deposit of money in a current account. A balance in the current account may also represent the proceeds of a loan granted by the banker. This is usually done through an oral agreement between the parties, recorded in the banker’s journal and the loan will be granted merely by allowing a customer to overdraw his account.
• During the seventeenth century, English bankers began to develop a deposit banking business. The methods used and evolved in England and Scotland were in due course to prove highly influential in other parts of the world. Because of their reputation and wealth, the London goldsmiths started keeping money and other valuables in safe custody for customers. They also began dealing in bullion and foreign exchange and this led to another form of business: acquiring and sorting coin for profit.

1. Unharmonious ColorsThis perhaps is the biggest mistake that people often make when designing an office. To avoid clashing colors, learn the basics of color blending. And for a more consistent look, follow the theme.
2. Too Close Fixtures
Dirt and dust build-up are more likely to increase if you place furniture and appliances close to each other. This could damage some office items. To prevent this, think about putting space between large items in the workplace. A little breathing space would not turn the room overcrowded.
