The Critic’s Top 3 Favourite Oscar’s Hosts

It hasn’t been a month since the 87th Academy Awards took place last February but a lot of people are still talking about this star-studded event. And many people and critics are also still in discussion about the Oscar’s recent host: Neil Patrick Harris.

Neil Patrick Harris took over the hosting reigns from Ellen Degeneres, who garnered mixed reviews during her stint. However, Ellen managed to increase viewership by 8 percent when she was the host in 2014.

Although many critics have not been fully pleased with the recent hosts of Oscars, there were still some presenters who have a great mark during their stints. They also impressed the critics and they have been listed as their all-time favourite hosts.

Bob Hope.
Bob Hope hosted the Academy Awards for a record number of 18 times. He first hosted the Oscars in 1960 and the last one in 1978, during the 50th awards ceremony.

Billy Crystal.
Billy Crystal hosted the Academy Awards 9 times. His first hosting stint in 1992 was forever engraved on all viewers’ memories when made his entrance on the stage wheeled in a hand truck, muzzled like Hannibal Lecter.

Whoopi Goldberg. This comedienne made a splash as an Oscar host that she was given the job as MC for 4 times. She first hosted the Academy Awards in 1996.
